... for fixing an awkward situation not of their making. I had placed an order with some back-ordered items in preparation for an upcoming road trip. I asked that two items be shipped out right away, as I needed them to prepare panels in time for them to cure. When the box was delivered, I noticed it seemed to sag a little. The delivery driver took off as soon as he handed it to me, and just before I noticed white leaking out of a corner onto my hand. Clearly, just before the box was delivered, it had suffered damage that broke the cap on the gesso and badly dented the jug, causing the gesso to spill inside the box. It was beginning to soak into the cardboard and leak out the seams. The gesso was fresh, with no setting up or even skin forming. (I am certain the driver knew there was a problem; he just didn't want to deal with it.)

I had no choice but to open the box and deal with the mess. The inside of the box was covered with gesso, including the panels. Once the mess was safely contained, I called Dick Blick. They immediately arranged for next day replacement if those items so I could prepare my panels in time for them to cure. In addition, Debbie, who handled this for me, went out of her way to make sure I got the backordered items in time for my trip, and checked back with me to make sure that things arrived intact.

So thanks, to Debbie and everyone else at DB, who made what could have been a stressful event for me into just a bump in the road (so to speak) as I madly prepare for a cross-country trip to visit relatives and do a lot of plein air along the way.

PS: I'm glad I was wearing my paint clothes when I got that box!
