View Full Version : Purple in Shadows Alert

Many folks have said that they could not 'see' purple or blue in shadows. I have found that in the spring and fall this effect is more obvious. (I am in central northern hemispere....may be different if you're somewhere else.) Right now I'm observing a 'lilac' purple in shadows in the late afternoon. I will continue to watch the changes. I'd advise anyone in the same latitude who is interested in the concept to do the same.

Many people can't see anything in the shadows .. doesn't mean it's not there .. just means they can't see it. :D

There isn't purple or blue in the shadows.

Outdoors, under natural sunlight, the shadows are purple or blue.

When an object blocks sunlight, the shadow area is still lit, like everything else, by the sky. It's just that the sunlight prevents us from seeing this, unless it is blocked by something.
