View Full Version : Another Plein Air.

At the end of day we managed to get out for about whole hour of day light!... I did another Plein Air sketch with pastel pencils. This time it was a nice tall willow right on the middle of the swamp. Love swamps and bugs - they keep people away, so I can paint! :-)

A nice abstracted sketch!. I spent the day outside and all I got was sunburned.

Nice willow - you caught its graceful shape very well. I've never painted in a swamp and would probably be too distracted by the possibility of a snake!

Thank You, Dixie!
No sunburn here, it is evening. However I had another problem - limited time and dying light... not easy to work. You starting by looking and finishing by memorizing. Colors and light are constantly changing.

Thank You, Pete!
I like to get out and paint something, even it is a very simple something! :-)

Donna, I'm not afraid of snakes...most of the time. I'm biologist and a little bit on a whiled side... in my childhood wanted to be a park ranger.... also, here in PA the only ugly snake I met was on my flower bed... it was timber ruttler. (here is a danger of gardening!)
Sometimes in the swamps you may see some very beautiful things. One of my very first Oil Pastels is a painting of FL Swamp in February with all the flowers blooming and shadows laying on the water... pretty. It took me a while to paint that one from photo, but reference was too beautiful not to try. Love my swamps, like Says Shrek!
