We all need a safe place to go in times of distress, even if that place resides in the confines of our own minds through dreams. I am hoping that this conveys a sense of peace and tranquility.
All C & C welcome and appreciated.

Thank you for your comments, Ben.
Glad you enjoyed this, Pete. Some popcorn sounds pretty good right about now!
Randy - thank you for taking the time to look and to comment.
Thanks, Jane. I worked with a limited palette to keep the whole piece cohesive, and was glad in the end that it seemed to work.
Donna - thank you. Your comments meant a lot!

Wayne - thanks so much for your nice comments.
Thank you, Teresa!
Eloise - your kind comments make me feel as though I succeeded with this piece - thank you!
Robert - if only I could recreate everything I see in my dreams!!! From what I understand, I am one of the lucky ones who dreams in color and have since I was a child.
Thank you, Ralph. This is a real place in NewFoundland that I once saw, and it has lived on through dreams in my mind. Just had to get it down on canvas.
Much appreciated, Al.

Hi Claire,
You have a great sense of distance in this one. The foreground and midground trees are fabulous. Nice work!

This looks like Waterton Park in Alberta, Canada!

You have surely achieved your goal - this is so calm and lovely.
LyndaN took the words right out of my mouth. When I saw your painting before I read the description, I thought for sure it was painted at (or from a photo of) Waterton National Park. Waterton is the Canadian contiguous part of Glacier National Park in the US. There is a very old hotel (Prince Edward? Prince Andrew? something like that) that looks out on a scene remarkably like your painting. It is an interesting old wooden structure, said to be haunted - no doubt due to the fact that it is a very windy location and the structure creaks and groans in the wind despite have numerous cables anchoring key parts of the structure to the ground. Nicely done!

Prince of Wales is the hotel's name. Here is a link with a photo:

LyndaN - your photograph definitely looks similar, but this place is actually in Newfoundland which is to the east of Quebec on the eastern part of Canada. Wouldn't it be great to stay in that old hotel in Waterton - what a neat place.
Thank you, Susan!
Thanks, JTMB - I looked up that National Park, and also followed LyndaN's link. It looks very similar to my painting, but as I commented above, this place was located in Newfoundland. Sure makes me want to go explore the western side of Canada!

Claire, what a wonderful painting! I think all of us should try painting from our memories and dreams more often. You really nailed the feeling of distance.
