MY COMMENTS:
This portrait was done from a photo of this
mother and newborn babe as a surprise from the proud new father.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I struggled with the background and would like comments on that. Also, there weren't
a lot of darks in the photo for good definition on the face. I tried to use more 'color' that I usually do for the shadow parts of the face and hoped it didn't turn out too blue.

I liked the background colors you used but since you used black on one side you might want to create more shadows in that area on the face and or clothes. This could give you the definition you're looking for. Carmen

Hi I played with various backgrounds , logically the shadow should be on the same side as that on the face, but swapping round adds I think to the interest, I am not advocating plain backgrounds but it was easier to illustrate. you may want to use greens to counteract the Blue you talk about and enhance the pinks... I think after doing this I favour a darker hue, but Im not sure.....
