A new project to be launched in classical forum, starting in June 09.

'Once upon a time'- children's illustrators

The idea is basically the same as for oldies and goodies. We study one classic illustrator of children's books each month.

This thread is to ask you for your ideas for particular illustrators to study.

I have listed a few off the top of my head:

Beatrix Potter
Randolph Cladecott
Kate Greenaway
Maurice Senddak
Quentin Blake.

There are loads more.

Please add your favourites to this thread.:D

I love children's books...so here's a few of my favorite illustrators.

Tasha Tutor (a fascinating woman)
Wanda Gag (wrote and illustrated "Millions of Cats" in the 20's and it is still in print)
N C Wyeth (father of you know who)
Howard Pyle (teacher of N C and illustrator of two of my favorite fairy tale books)
If you really want to go back, there is John Tenniel, the original illustrator of "Alice in Wonderland"

I'm really excited about this project, June.....

I like these illustrators and I'll put one of their books in the front for reference. We don't have to do all of them.

The Rainbow Fish Marcus Pfister
Corduroy by Don Freeman
The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats
The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne
Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey
The Story about Ping by Marjorie Flack, Kurt Wiese

Thanks for stopping by, Trafford and Gakinme.

It will be fun to do these illustrators.

Please note that anyone who wants to can host the monthly illustrator.

I will start the project off at the beginning of June with Beatrix Potter. Then who knows where we will wander....to lands far away.

See you there. :cat:

June, I've changed my mind. Let me do Bill Peet instead of McCloskey. Bill Peet is a better artist. If it's okay with you, I'll start the October topic.
