Step 1: Transfer to the 12x12" canvas. Outline in black and establish darkest darks.
Step 2: Wash in with grayed color.

What a great finish!A lovely subject and an equally lovely composition.
I like how you have the background colours and textures contrasting with your subject. I also thoroughly enjoyed seeing the progress and studying initial (gessoed?)textures you have in the background....Your photographs are excellent ...very clear.Thank you!:wave:

Sandra - Thanks for the great remarks! That gesso texture has marble dust added to it, spread over the canvas with a palette knife and then texture by vigorous brushing with the tip of a 1" China bristle throw-away brush. I've been taking these outdoors in open shade.

I like the contrast of impressionist b/g with the firmer painting of the girl.
Lovely testures both real anad painterly! Beautiful colour too.

Love this except the berry bush feels somehow missing. I can't really see the branch she is picking from...
