I've been happily using a Jullian half box--I like the stability, the ergonomics. I don't use the drawer. I carry pastels separately.

Lately, I've been thinking about adding the weight I once avoided and using the Jullian full box as both easel and pastel carrier--dressing the inside drawer so it's suitable and safe for pastels. Has anyone done this? Should I?

And, I've also become curious about pochades. I'm comfortable using a photo tripod, but somehow, I am nervous about balancing a securely-fastened box of pastels, and a drawing surface, on the head of a photographic tripod (even one designed to carry a heavy camera). If I go this way, what do I need to consider in order to be secure?

Thanks for the help!

EasyL, that's one of the best of that type that I have tried. It works well on a tripod. The attachment is very secure.
