Think I'm nearly done with this - based on a photo from Naples, FL. I did a pastel study earlier in the week and wanted to do a larger, acrylic painting ... hopefully for an upcoming summer themed show. This is 24 x 36" and was aiming really for abstraction here. Also focusing on using much heavier application of paint in certain areas.

I think this works great! Really draws the viewer to the shore. So inviting, yet the shadows add a sense of mystery.

Thank you Arlene and Michelle...that's right, it's early one morning, the time mom likes to go to the beach.

It looks very nice, Celeste, and I'm partial to dark purple blues - but something in the values doesn't feel quite right yet. If I may suggest, I think a little more highlights in the dark shadow will make it more interesting.

Your transition form shadow to light is convincing. You've totally conveyed a dewy early morning beach.
