I came across some excellent information today on our own Michael Chesley Johnson's blog. Michael gave me permission to post a link to this article and I hope others will find it as enlightening as I did.

I plan to try this method at the very next opportunity I have to bring my pastels outside. I usually feel pressured to finish or produce an almost-finished painting and work at a frantic pace. Hopefully, a color study and a small sketch of select details will help me paint the kind of studio painting that still has that fresh, plein air feel.

Thanks again to Michael for sharing!

Sounds like a plan! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Donna, Thank you for posting this blog, I followed it and found some interesting past blogs as well. It reminded me how much I do enjoy painting from my smaller plein air paintings. Now that the weather is getting warmer here in Southern Oregon I am excited to get outdoors and paint. This blog is a good reminder one does not need to produce a finished painting on location.
