I've had this reference for a couple years and have wanted to paint it but was never able to get focused on it. I still have some work to do but please, let me know if I need to make any changes. This one is for me!

Excellent Gayle! Love the reflections and the gesture. Nice brush work. I does look like she has her dress stretched around the chair. Shouldnt the arms in the seat back be on our side of the skirt? Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly. Great job!

I like this. Interesting pose and well painted.

There are no arms on this chair - it's one of those metal folding chairs that are usually beige or tan. Her tutu has spilled through the back of the chair. I'll try to clear that up. Thanks.

Really nice Gayle!!!
You amaze me Gayle! You are so prolific and you can turn out remarkable paintings with different subject matter in completely different styles! I'm loving the drama of this one. I got what was happening with the tutu, but a little tweaking will help to clarify. I'm wondering about the light values though. There seems to be a lot of light on the left side of her face but it is not consistent with that on her shoulders. Of course there could be multiple light sources to confuse the matter. Good for you for doing one just for yourself!

Gayle, what a beautiful painting- I am really enjoying it!! The posture, the expression, the color (especially the utilitarian red chair against the blues), and the well done variety of textures and surfaces. What a painting!

Thanks so very much Susan, Margaret, Eric Nithya, Steven, Arlene & Michelle!! I do so appreciate your comments!
Coralie - You are so sweet! I guess I paint in different styles because I haven't found my niche yet?! I shaded her left forehead and added some highlights and tiny details. I think I'm calling it done!

I especially like the blue / bluish background and floor, which just sets off the red chair that much more. Black would have worked too. Great!

Beautiful Gayle. The skin tones are so good and the red of the chair just sings against the blue. You have really done a super job on the tutu.

Thanks ever so much Alisha, Kathie & Linda! I really appreciate it.
wonderful work and lovely colours ...you are doing so beautifully Gayle..
a teeny suggestion is maybe soften the tip of her nose a minute fraction...however she may in fact have it pointy and I am wrong.
I love your exquisite work!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much Ruth! That's high praise coming from you! I did soften her nose and also tweaked her eye so she didn't look like she was falling asleep in the chair! I'm so happy that I waited a couple years before tackling this one because I'm in a much better place painting-wise now.
