I am doing this wedding portrait in Acrylic for a friend to give her husband for their 25th anniversary.
The reference photos are small and unable to enlarge without blurring.
Using a magnifying glass most of the time, hope you can kinda see what I have here and offer me any suggestions please.
ALL C&C VERY welcomed as I realy want this to be just right.
I am so used to doing details, its hard for me to make it painterly.
well see what you all think please.

This is coming along lovely! You've done a lot of work on it since last I checked in. My only suggestion would be to try not to paint the facial features and paint the muscles around them instead. If you leave the mouth and eyes for a bit and paint a little more on the cheeks, corners of their eyes, chin and forehead the expression on their faces won't look so forced. When someone smiles its a result of the muscles surrounding their lips, not so much their actual lips.
When I paint I'll smile or get the same expression as the portrait then feel my face to see where the muscles are pulling from. Sounds strange, and I tend to get paint on my face doing this but it really work.

This is looking very good! I like the soft edges, so the figures don't look pasted on the background. Good likeness, too!

Kathie this is looking better and better, just saw the beginnings of it in WOYE, definite strides here. If Kim hadn't suggested that I would have, lift those cheeks a bit and I'd say you nailed him..hard from such a bad photo but you are doing excellently! You're sooo talented kiddo.

Bravo to you Kathie for painting a difficult one from small photo. I'ts looking good so far my only suggestion is the way the teeth look on the man in update 2 look better than how you've made them more clearly defined in the later one! Also his right ear looks larger than his left. OMHO
BTW, what a nice present to give them for their anniversary, they will have to be so pleased.

Hi Kathie - these are stunning. Remember that you are a much better painter than I am, but in both faces the eyes, while lovely, look a wee teeny tiny bit high on their faces? And the eyes on the woman could be a wee tiny bit wider - the distance between the eyes is wider than an eye width, or so it seems on my monitor.

Lovely. The bride is almost done IMO, you have a very good likeness and her smile and hair are very nicely done. The teeth of the guy are glaring, you wouldnt see them so clearly, individually. Some more shading on his face and you should be done. What a wonderful gift for your friend, I am sure they will be thrilled.

Your reference material is so lousy. You are doing an amazingly wonderful rendering in spite of this! What a brave girl you are.

Thank you very much EP, Nithya, Lillian, Chris, Steve and Ruthie.
The original photo isn't too blurry just small. this reference is a scanned onto computer of the photo and tried to crop which blurred it worse.
But not too bad just use magnifying glass most of the time.
unfortunately my computer is in the office(a spare room) and my studio is out in the dinning room.

Here is an update. painted all day long today. occas watching a movie this am and at lunch with hubby who is suffering from nasty chest cold.

so got alot done.. almost done.. just not happy with her mouth yet and these photos I took late this eve show them very pale.. but better closeup of her just he's too pale and need to work on his flower.
