Beautiful. Love the energy and movement, brilliant colors, and I LOVE how the dress almost merges with the background. Sign it :)

Very good..

Beautiful. I love the swirl of the dress.

thank you Nithya, Eric and Arlene.

Looking at it again here I notice that the lower res of the photo makes the face appear 'flatter' than irl.

Woo hoo Lulu:) What a great painting!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice, the dress is great :)

Beautiful flow on the dress. You can feel the energy of the dance on this one. The area of the neck looks real tense.............TJ

Overall a good start though IMO it's too "dusty" looking--sharper focus may be in order. Two things that may need fixes: the index finger seems to be too long--I'd paint it out; and the muscles of the neck and the collarbone are much too pronounced and stick out--downplay them--they'll fit in much better.

Feels like you've captured the kick with her right leg where the knee is showing. Love the painting, well done!

04-24-2009, 09:13 AM
WoW! That is fire, great title for a beautiful red painting.

04-24-2009, 09:29 AM
I think this is spectacular! I love the fluid lines of her gown. It just has so much beautiful movement and of course the color tells the story doesn't it?!!

Looking at it again here I notice that the lower res of the photo makes the face appear 'flatter' than irl.Right, I wont mention that then :-D

I absolutely love the movement in this painting, her dress is gorgeous, but then I am biased as I love red.. I can hear the music - feel the passion - this is a very successful painting!

Gorgeous!! Love the motion of the dress in this, great job!!

Really fantastic, you can hear the heels clicking on the floor, your flow in the dress well done and her hand, you nailed the whole movement..Great piece.

Wonderful flow and colour!

Lulu, another WONDERFUL dancer you've managed to capture here in this lovely painting!

Tony, Andy, Tony, Anthony, v techie, purple, JJ, Gayle, Kathie, Elaine, Michelle, Oz, Linda, Lori, Peter and Darla - Thank you all very much!

Anthony, the index finger has been bothering me too, I won't paint it out but I will make it a little shorter.

04-24-2009, 06:36 PM
I shaved a millimetre or two off her index finger and took another photo in the morning light - the colours are truer in this one.

04-24-2009, 08:45 PM
stunning movement in this Lulu-it has the energy of flamenco in it!!!!
PS- I'd interpreted that she was holding a feather or such like in her hand rather then a protruding index finger

04-24-2009, 09:29 PM
Gorgeous Lulu! Wonderful motion, lovely features and I love the red!

04-25-2009, 07:25 AM
Excellent finish Lulu:) Very fluid movement!!!

04-25-2009, 01:04 PM
The mood of a lovely and passionate painting.

04-25-2009, 01:52 PM
Love the passion! I vote for shaving another 1-3 mm off her finger ... and considering toning down the definition of her collarbone/neck marks ... but love the fabric!!!!

Thank you Ruth, Lillian, Aires, Anthony and EP.

Yes I just may have to get the scalpel out again:lol::lol:

I have been given permission to link to the ref. pic. You can see it here (here)

You were spot on Lulu, from the beginning. The ref proves your accuracy.

Put down the scalpel, calm down, you don't want to hurt anybody. Easy now, it's OK.

04-25-2009, 11:06 PM
thanks Oz:) I think Ruth might have run off with the scalpels when she moved house but I'll check:D

I do appreciate everyone's comments and crits. I'll let it sit for a while and then reassess in a few days.

Lulu, this gal is beautiful!
The attitude,
The movement,
The color,
That one finger creating a sharp point among all the mass,
What a perfectly charming painting!

04-26-2009, 12:07 AM
I like this too! The red is gorgeous. My favorite is the peek of the top leg. I agree to soften the neck and collarbone, just a bit tho--you still want to see/feel the intense movement. Beautiful work!

04-26-2009, 03:38 AM
Absolutely gorgeous, still!!!!!!!!

your #1 fan!!! :-P

04-26-2009, 07:47 AM
Thank you Steven, Ruthie and JJ! (((JJ:))

Well, I didn't leave it a few days, I shaved a tiny bit more of her index finger but I still left it slightly hyperflexed because that is common with dancers, and also softened the neck/collarbone musculature a little, yet still keeping the visible tension.

So, thank you all once again.........it is signed, finished, done...........and put away to be part of my Dance series exhibition next year!!!
