SHORT LIST
A couple coming up fast:
Normal/Abnormal: Bodies & Minds
This exhibition, juried by Ann Starr, will examine experiences of physical, emotional, and mental abnormality. These include literal abnormality on the one hand: mental illness, physical handicaps, or disfigurement. They also examine the ways we sometimes feel grotesque or wrong in comparison to whatever we consider normal. The latter will be an important part of the show as well: what do we think normal is? Why do we so often attempt to rearrange ourselves to be "normal"? Is normal better or worse than abnormal? Two-dimensional work is especially invited: painting, prints, drawings, photography and artists' books. Entry Due Date: October 26, 2002. Woman Made Gallery, 1900 S. Prairie Ave., Chicago, Illinois 60616. Phone: 312.328.0038. Fax: 312.328.1108. www.womanmade.org/pdfs/normalabnormal2003.pdf
