It's been forever since I've actually finished anything. Here is my latest acrylic 16" x 20". Critiques and comments are appreciated.

I love your painting. I'm not sure how I would personally classify it. Is it romanticism with just a hint of the Surreal.
There is something about the tree that, to me, suggests the surreal.
I find the overall painting quite enjoyable and charming.
I also find it enjoyable that your tree is almost a complementary color to the grass and hillside. I guess it's the color of the tree that made think of the surreal.
If someone were being picky about composition they might mention that the apparent center of focus (the knot in the tree) might be a tad close to the right edge of the painting, but I wouldn't do that. :wink2:

Wow, there's so much I like about this, the soft background, the gnarled tree, the reflection, great job :)

That is beautiful!

Wow. This is fabulous. I think all that is missing is a bird or something like that. It feels very desolate but then I guess that is what you were after.

Great blending and sense of space and depth of space. Like the color palette immensely, soft but not weak. Was it with intent that the landscape has an almost claw feel to it? Works well for me.

Great, love generelly the loneliness in the painting and especially the tree.. My first impression was this painting is alike Jerry Yarnell. Have you learned from his technique? I am a beginner in acrylics and I use his very helpful instruction books. What kind of paints you use?

That wasn't the intent, but it fits with the feel I suppose. I fought with that embankment for a long time before I decided it was as good as I was going to get it.

Yes, I am a Yarnell fan. I'd wanted to move from drawing into painting for a while, but it wasn't until I ran across one of his books that I made the leap and got started. I use W&N Finity. PM me if you want to go into more details on my journey into painting w/ Yarnell.
