View Full Version : Need some help

Hi all,
I need some help with my new Golden Open. I want to go outside and finish a painting in one session. What is the best surface and how can I do the underpainting so it is dry enough for second layer in a short time? Is it better to use water or thinner? I would not want the underpainting color resolves. For large areas I normally use gesso and so I can also blend without problems. How do that with Golden Open?
Thanks for help.

I don't use Opens. But a suggestion to save time is do the under painting in regular acrylics...this will dry fast and then paint on top with the Golden Open Acrylics Hope that this helps.

Ditto from me. Underpaint in regular acrylics, or add some of the Golden fast dry medium to the Opens.

Same here. Regular acrylics will be the best for Plein air/alla prima.

You can do thin watered layers in Golden Open which will dry more or less quickly depending on your temperature, humidity and wind conditions. Drying will seem like it takes less time if you work on two paintings at once.
