View Full Version : Wintery Country Road

I was inspired by a Hugh Greer instructional video; that man can really paint and makes it look so effortless. He painted a barn in two versions...a sunlit and a more overcast version of a red barn. I painted a house located in the next block over from me as I liked it's rough textured exterior rather than copying his barn. Don't judge him by my humble efforts.
Anyway, this is on canvas covered board.
Thanks for looking.

But if he inspired you we can judge him!
In a very positive manner mind you!
This is just wonderful.
Your use of colour, your placement of the trees, just everything works here.
This painting just sings to me.

Great job on this one! Shows lots of patience and color control. The road just takes you into the artwork.
Wonderful colours and brush work. I noted a tangent at the lower left corner but I didn't find it distracting me from the overall composition which I liked.

Beautiful work. I can picture walking down this quiet country lane with the snow squishing beneath my feet. Very nice.

A warm, nostalgic painting....the yellow warmth gives the suggestion to me that the family is warm and snug within while Old Man Winter snorts and shows what he can do. Nice rendition.

Teresa, Even though I'm glad winter is over with, I really like this, especially the rustic boards of the house, the yellow/orange in the windows, and the icicles hanging from the roof.
Great job on this. I really like the composition and the warmth of the scene (despite the snow). Terrific sense of depth too.
