Not any updates on my recent work. To tired to even look at it with a critical eye. Worked a lot in the garden today.

awwww, thank you Elizabeth, Dan and Kathleen :)
the colours are such a hit and miss tho :o  but I am starting to get the hang of using the brushes :D
I am just about to scan it again and then I will work more on it :)
Any idea how I could lighten the cheek again ? It is gone too dark :o

Looking good Harold
thank you Susan :) Yep, I am on the way to building my very own RIL  I got a Nikon D80 going everywhere with me in the car and my breaks at work are more often then not spend around the fields, weather permitting of course.
But this pretty boy here really posed for the photo and made it easy. Now if I could only get his colour right :(

anyway, here the last scan. I worked mainly on the headcollar, started darkening the nose and glazed a bit more over the neck area.
And now back to work on it....

Kathrin: Great job on the horse. He looks so lifelike I just want to reach out and pet him!

Here's one that I've been working on lately.
I think I'm going to call it done though, cause I'm getting tired of looking at it.
12X12" acrylic on board.

thanks Steve :) I like your painting too :)
E.P. yep, definitely looks like stained glass, very nice :)
Howard, your work is so unique. Love the squiggles too.

spend like 2 hours refining the eye and the front of the head above and below the nose-band, lightening the cheek and working on the head collar again. Doesn't show much here I am afraid :o but it makes a difference to the real thing :)
Hope you are not sick of looking at it already

There is some wonderful stuff out there this week already. I am currently working on a couple of celebrity portraits for an upcoming art festival. The one on the left is obviously more refined, the one on the right is in the ugly stages of blocking in and deciding what goes where, :o . I figure the character on the right is fairly obvious, but does anyone know who the fellow on the left is?

As always, C&C is always welcome and much appreciated.

Katherin I love the horse. It's really pretty.

I am refinding the artist in me after many years of being Mommy and Wife. LOL still a Mom and still a wife but a little more free time now that the kids are older.

I've never posted anything here yet but this is what I am working on. I want the trees in the foreground to be more realistic.

well I didn't have 2 posts so it wouldn't let me post the pic. Let's try this again....

Annie, the trees are almost there.
Check out the information kiosk (above) and search the titles there for the MTM thread re trees.
You will find a wonderful amount of very practical and hands on demos within.
Keep up the good work.....
And welcome to Wet Canvas Acrylics.

The swans I was working on at the beginning of the month are getting some feathers now. Figuring out how to do white on white feathers was a little tricky, but I like what I came up with. I still have a long way to go.

I'm working on something a little more melancholy. Even though I signed it, I'm not happy with it and will do more work on it. Not sure if I'm done. I'm not happy with the right eye and need to work on the hands. I'm going for more of an expressionist style. I have kidney stones and I guess I'm in one of those weird dark moods.

Susan, Kathrin, - thank you :)

Kathrin - such a magestic creature

Dan - sorry - I don't recognize the fellow on the left. Is it possible that the eyes on the left fellow are a wee bit small for the size of his face?

Jane - very moody

Here's another magnolia - acrylic on 7x10" watercolour paper. Before and after adding the outline in acrylic ink.

Kathrin your horse is wonderful. I have painted a few horses in my time and I know that the colour can be really hard to get. I think you're doing a great job.
Here is the final version of my stile painting from last week. the photo is a bit dark for some reason, sorry about that.
