As the title indicates im new here and looking forward to talking to you all
so a big HELLO to you all.I am sure you all would like to know a little
about me.Well first off I decided to start my passion in pastel after fate
stepped in,while at a doctors office visit (nothing serious) I had to make
another appointment in a diffrent part of the building and in that office
was a huge portrait 30x40 I think of a young girl I was amazed by this
painting I couldnt take my eyes off it I had never seen color like that
I have seen oil paintings before so I knew it couldnt be oil or water color,
so it had to be pastel.Anyways after thinking of that painting and pastel I
decided I want to do pastel,so long story short well maybe long story long
I am saving money now for pastel supplies I should be pastel painting
early next year.Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Welcome to the dusty side lukeyking! Wow, stay at home dad, I'm impressed!
My brother was a stay at home dad when his kids were young too. He loved it! I hope you will be able to find some time to get started with pastels. I'm still a newbie with pastels. I've only been doing them for about a year. Before that I was painting with watercolors for the most part. I did dabble with the pastels off and on, but now i'm focusing on them so I can learn them. I'm also learning landscapes which to me are a challenge as I was mostly a flower painter. Anyway, welcome again and have fun!

Lukeyking, buying the pastels is one of the most fun thing about painting with pastels. It ranks second behind painting. hehehe Have fun! i'm glad you are already getting dusty. I consider myself a newbie to pasztels as I have only been using them regularly for about a year now. Before that I used watercolor most of the time, although I did use pastels now and again. But I feel like a newbie and have learned the most from this site. Great people, great support and lots of opportunities to learn. Good luck!

Hi Lukeyking,
I know what you mean. I visited a gallery that was showing pastels 6 years ago, and was so inspired, that is why I am painting them today.
