This beautiful apricot poodle is from a reference photo in the RIL by Cryrolfe. (http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/search.php?searchid=39180)
FB Poly's, Pitts and some Carbothellos and Giocondas on 9" x 12" light blue AS Colourfix.
Time: don't know exactly, about 5 hours or so.
I can probably still do some tweaking if you guys spot anything seriously off. Personally I am having doubts about the scarf around the dogs neck. Seems off somehow. Any insights?
Other than that, I had tons of fun doing this drawing, and in general am very happy with the way it turned out :D
Thanks for looking.

Great job on this poodle. The detail on the snout and mouth is wonderful.
I think the colour of the scarf doesn't work with the background. As you have used some of that same blue green in the face and ears, the green of the scarf seems to clash with the rest of the painting. I'm not sure what to suggest as a different colour - maybe some of the more experienced painters will have suggestions.

Thank you for your reply and your nice words Elaine :)
Meanwhile I have been playing around with the color of the scarf in a photo editor and came up with a brown/beige sort of color that I think works better on the whole. What do you think?
Mariska (wondering why she doesn't try these things out in a photo editor before she starts to mess around with the actual pastels...)

The poodle is definately gorgeous! I also think the color of the scarf and the background are competing with eachother.
Edit: We cross-posted
The scarf color is definately much better!!

Yes - brown beige works nicely! Nicely done!

Thank you Paula for your nice words, and also for your thoughts on the scarf.
It is getting too dark right now to mess around with colors, but I will definitely start changing the color of the scarf tomorrow :)

Very nice! The brown scarf really adds to the cohesiveness of the painting.

Fantastic detail on his face! The solution you worked out for the scarf is a good one. Now I think "wow, a pink poodle!" instead of "look, a scarf with a poodle behind it". :-) Sort of illustrating verbally.... LOL.
OK, he looks fantastic!
