This may be a silly question, but it's one that has had me wondering for years:

One of my favorite artists is Alphonse Mucha, but I'm terrified that if I try to say his name in a serious intellectual conversation, I'm going to pronounce it wrong and sound like a goof. Can anyone tell me the correct pronunciation? I've heard both (mooka) and (moocha) used.
thanks

Always heard it pronounced "moocha," myself. Ask a Czech to be certain. By the way, be a real snob and write his first name "Alphons" without the "e," although I've seen it both ways.

Just do a Google search under "alphonse mucha pronunciation" and you will get the answer. Roughly, since I don't know how to show the weird pronunciation letter characters shown on the site that Google comes up with, it's "Ahlfons Mookh'ah."

thanks Andy. I had no idea you could do that with Google!
