View Full Version : Sunflowers in Vase

There's a blizzard outside...winter seems to be dragging on. So, it seemed like a great time to paint some cheerful sunflowers! I used a purply colored neutral for the background to help make the yellows pop on the flowers! Watercolor and tad of gouache on Arches.
Thanks for looking!

This really does bring some Spring/summer into the forum!
I particularly like the light through the leaves and vase - the luminous shadow on the table. :D

Thank you, Maureen--it seems winter has gone on far far too long. I'm ready for some bright color.
Thank you so much, Pat--I love watercolors for those luminous and transparent effects!

Thank you all for your very kind comments. It's snowing again, here. I think I'm going to have to dig through some more flower reference photos! I need to see some color!
