Uff! it's a very realistic portrait. The expression is very well done. I think your uncle will be happy.

Your portrait is lovely. I like how you've done the denim shirt as well. Have you trained as an illustrator? Your work always has such a beautifully precise illustrative feel to it.

EGonzalez - Thanks for your comments, taking a look at my website, and also thanks for adding my web to your blog :)
Pam - Thank you very much. No I have had no training, completely self taught - at home here amongst my 3 young children (now aged 8, 4 and 14months). I use to work in the art department for a magazine for many years before my children came along and all my creativeness went into my job. I needed that creative outlet here at home so I took up painting - and today I'd be lost without my art time. Thank you!
Paula, fingy, pastelyn, Tanja and Barb - Thanks for taking the time to comment :)
Diana - Thank you for your comments. Yes he liked his portrait thankfully. Dad asked me to paint him and they recently gave it to him as a gift. I remember a time when my Dad would frown down upon my painting, telling me it was a waste of time. These comments use to make a rage burn inside of me and make me want to paint more. These days my Dad is proud of me and my efforts - it is much different now. I guess I did show him what I could be - but I wonder was that his intentions? Thank you!

maw-t - I always use canson mi tientes, smoothside. It has minimal tooth but it works well for me. I apply my pastels lightly always rubbing in my first layers and gradually building up.
