Sometimes you just see something that screams out to be painted. A sojourn to the Co-op took me past the harbour, as indeed most walks do, and this little creeler just caught the light.

Great handling of that water Tim, excellent suggestion of movement and ripple shapes! By the way, I found a painting you left in the animals forum with a close up of some ducks and wanted to give you my compliments on that.

Wonderful water, Tim, beautifully done.
I'm not sure about the scale. Just how big is that boat?
If they are the type of ducks with which I am familiar, then that is one tiny boat.

I had to google Creeler (http://www.trawlerpictures.net/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=9653).... It seems to be an Scottish term for fishing boat.. (http://www.scottishfishingboats.co.uk/models/scottish-18-23/orkney_creeler.htm) So having satisfied myself as to what a creeler is, I can devote my attention to your beautiful painting. I love the little boat, and yes can almost feel the movement of the water. The little ducks are just the right touch..
Our artist minds are always active, no matter where we are. It is wonderful and exciting that we can see a painting, and others will just see..........
Thanks for sharing..

I could actually feel a bit seasick looking at the ducks and feeling the slight bob of up and down of water. (I don't take to boat rides very well though I like looking at the waves.) Very nice piece.

Thanks for the encouraging comments folks - really greatly appreciated.
Hi Marty - yes, this isn't a big vessel at all; Eiders are up to 70cms in head & body length (2ft long, or so) and the boat in the pic is approx 11 feet long. I think with the foreshortening of the boat, the birds are probably ok-ish. These little creelers are used mainly inshore for lobs, velvets and partans (edible crabs).
