Not mine, but someone in our group. Her daughter was off from university, and wanted to earn some money for ... doing nothing. :D
Anyway, 14 x 11" oil on linen. About two hours ... and a tad, which is about a bit. :wink2:

I love your loose style. It is a style I have been wanting to learn myself.

Thanks! Take my advice ... forget about style ... find a group and do this from life, every week.

Jim- Great drawing work- work from life is the best!
I like the introduction of a cooler color as a complement to the warms. The treatment in her blouse is a nice contrast- smooth, simple- you might bring in more areas like that to highlight the textures.

Ok, I want to ask again, are these being done on a linen mounted panel or a small canvas? I can't recall.
I guess you just begin blocking right in or right away beginning with the sienna toned paint, right? Then; how do you get it home unwrecked?

Maybe some year I'll be able to work that fast and loose. Beautiful work!

Jocelyn, it's linen taped to a board and there is about an inch or two of space around the linen. If I have my French easel, I use it's wet canvas holder.

Each time I start differently. This time I put down a rough shape of average flesh colour for the face, then went for the detail, values, shapes and background simultaneously. I do need to think about positioning before starting.

I don't work that fast, although I had most of it finished in an hour. The rest of the time was just filling time. :D
