Hi Animal,

For me the use of an easel would depend on whether you were painting on canvas, is it a large work? factors like that. Are you having a problem not using one?

Using an easel for painting in Acrylics is probably more of a what you feel comfortable doing thing. Sometimes I use one and sometimes not. To do fine detail and since they dry so fast I will lay the work flat on a table and it makes it easier to do details work. To see the whole effect of what you are doing you would probably like to use the easel. Personal preference I think.

No rules on easel use for acrylics. Use whatever surface is comfortable for you. Just be certain that whether you paint, on a table, wall, or easel, that your eyes are parallel to the painting. Doing this will minimize distortion and produce the most accurate results in your work.
