Last night I was mixing up my bead release. I keep it in a tall olive jar, because I like to dip my rods far enough down that I can easily switch hands with my mandrel..... well anyway. I put the lid on, and started shaking when suddenly the bead release went everywhere! I couldn't figure out why, because the top was still on tight. So turning the jar slowly I realized that a whole section of the bottom of the jar shattered and there was a hole about an inch around! Very bizarre!

Needless to say....I didn' t have any other olive jars. So my solution was using an old baby bottle left over from my son's bottle days. It is tall and narrow.....and with a cap on, it isn't messy to shake. And....it is plastic, so hopefullly it won't ever explode while shaking!

Just thought I would pass the tip along for anyone who likes tall jars for bead release!

Leslie, Sorry to hear about your bead release accident, sounds like a terrible mess! Thanks for the tip on plastic baby bottle container. 'Necessity is the mother of invention'!

Hi Leslie, I can't imagine what a mess, hopefully not on carpet!!
If you like to switch hands while working, why don't you dip your mandrels in the middle? There was a thread the other day about that, as a lot of people use that method.

Not really sure if this link will work, if not copy it and paste it in your browser.

Oh I dip them in the middle..... but I do it best using a tall container tipped sideways.....
