Although I'm a frequent lurker here, I've never posted until today.

I would like to do a second version of this piece:

I would like the second version to be much more energetic and less "quiet".

Suggestions, comments, criticisms are requested:)

I would add some movement to the background. Add evidence of foliage or other natural habitat.

Great start...what medium is this...watercolor perhaps? I would focus on having some better values to make it POP....darker darks, some bold highlights. Maybe a bit of prey for the tarantula...I do not know what they eat though :o . Some more color too, but don't let it take away form the tarantula. You've obviously been lurking quite awhile so I'm certain you've read all this before in other posts  . Great job though and continue posting please!

Ian:

Thank you for looking.

When I read this part of your comment, a vivid picture of my mother-in-law's first encounter with my squiggly little friend came to mind!!!:D

Movement would be good.

Susan:

The medium is home-made natural inks that are essentially watercolors.

I like your suggestion of more color and definitely agree than better values would be a plus.

Maybe another medium would give it a little more vibrancy.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Sometimes the obvious need to be pointed out. :o

Too often, I get caught in a "can't see the forest for the trees" mode. When this happens, fellow artists with fresh eyes are invaluable.

Thanks Jody...

I'm slow to show but quick to sell (that happens when you're as fond of food as I am...:D ) so I don't get much work posted.

I also love spiders, owned many.
