I am wanting to do a crackle finish gold leaf affect on paper. Anyone know how this is done?

I am sure I saw a demo recently where the artist used Crackle Paste from Golden. I believe she used a paper support.

Ranger industries has a brand new crackle medium that's a one step product. You can apply it very thinly, I believe. I'm not sure if you'd need another adhesive on top of it to adhere the leaf, or if the crackle medium itself would be a sufficient adhesive itself when it dries.

Metallic paint won't crackle. If you use a cracking medium like Matisse (from Jerrys Artarama) or the Jo Sonja Decor Crackle they are a sandwich crackle. They shrink the paint and that won't happen with metallic paint. You can add some Matt Medium to the paint & it will crack a little. Maybe you just want to use gold leaf? It's pretty easy to get cracks in the gold leaf - much easier than making it smooth.

Here's a LINK (http://www.rangerink.com/products/prod_inkssentials_crackle.htm) to the product itself. The website has a store locator at the top of the page.
