Yes it is tough to romanticize subjects like this. It can be done by considering the light for instance. It might be painted in the orange and purple glow of a sunset with dramatic shadow and highlighting. Or you might decide for example that those towers and stacks ans slanted tubes are marvelous and really play them up, simplifying the bulk and block of the buildings below. The artist has no end of options! Do some looking at industrial paintings. They can really be marvelously decorative and satisfying! I realize here that we are not dealing with the smoke and fire drama of a manufacturing plant of some kind, your color has perhaps been chosen with the benign nature of the plant in mind. But in order to illustrate what I am speaking of, notice what happens with a simple inversion of color:Other than that I would make a choice as to which elements to feature, the earthbound structures or the sky bourne elevators and tubes...

great critique by Corby (and far from the first)
Without departing so far from your post, I'd simply suggest that you need to strengthen the darks. You've got only mid tones and lights.

Nice painting. I like the composition, it has a great geometrical flow to it.

As this thread is 4 years old and the poster is anonymous, I'm afraid not.
