I took a photo of the Carmel Mission on an overcast day,<br>Any C & C are welcome

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Is there enough depth in the painting, focal point etc.

For the focalpoint I would have made the large green tree smaller and put more emphasis on the front door of the mission.

I do agree with brushoff. As the mission is supposed to be your focal point, you've relegated it to a background building. Shaving down that tree as it takes up 2/3rds of this scene would open up this painting. And lightening the big green bush left center would also give more life to this.

You've a good start with some good color!

The points above are well taken.
However, there bezillions of paintings of mission buildings so it's a good idea to try something novel, as you did with that large tree on my right.
One idea might be to thin out its branches and let more of the building show thru.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I will try billmahler's idea and lighten up the tree, he is right there are way to many frontal views around. ( I painted 2 some years ago myself )
