This was a challenge painting for another forum I'm showing my steps I did and the photo I went by. Done in Painter X I paint at 10x8 canvas.. 300dpi. I lower the dpi to72 for posting also the size.. So it never is as crisp as the actual painting. I do like to show the steps I take ..I don't use layers, they only mix me up.

The very proper use of blue in Lucy’s work signifies the fact that realistic art has not lost its original force and inevitably doesn’t limit the modern artist’s otherwise infinite potential as he/she is working with Painter X. The ‘sea grasses with impressionist brush’ also depicts a very remarkable part of the work. Enjoyed it Lucy:)

Absolutely agree. Look, the basics, are still the basics, and this piece is a great example, great colors. very nice. and Lucy, thanx for sharing the steps, always nice to see. (btw, I struggle with the image stuff to. I really hate when i do like a pen and ink drawing, then digitally color it, its never as nice as real world when I post).

Very nice, I like the addition of the greens and the more natural perch.

I like the colours you used Lucy. Birds are a subject I'd like to do more of myself. Thank you for posting your work steps. Very nice.

Thank you ..DsPit, LavenderFrost, Gray, Roy-P, Dee , Kenny and Jean . I'm glad you like seeing the steps I taking in painting a painting. I do think it helps to know how paintings are created. I guess cause I taught art for so long that it just comes natural to do it this way. Sometimes I have not shown the steps as I forgot to save them.
It would be nice if everyone could show there steps, as I know many can learn from them. I still like learning from others also. :)

After seeing your lovely painting, the next morning I went outside and there was a big Blue Heron sitting on my roof. What are the odds of that?:)

Thanks Gray... Yes it was a coincident seeing a Big Blue Heron on your roof. Don't see them very often. Here is a big one I painted quite awhile ago.

Thanks John.... I like the buttonized effect too. Adds something to a painting instead of a frame.

Thanks very much Barsha..... Y es I do have a thing with birds... they understand me:) .. They are smart too... I have owned birds for a long time. They have a long life span the Parrots anyways. The one I have now is a Green Monk Parrots or Quakers so called. He has a large vocabulary( good words) What is very unquie about this one he has to go in his cage at night and closes the door, and whistles the Farmer in the Dell. Then Kiss Kiss and as I put the cover over him He will say nighty night. He says a lot of other things too, which makes sense when talking to him. So if any one called me a bird brain..I would say that was a complement :D

Nice to know all these things from you Lucy. That means still some things exist which is far beyond our concious perception. Would like to more about birds from you:heart:
