I love this forum, it has given me so much information! I have been reading the posts on safety, and I agree that dust is a major problem. I have had to give up over the years oils, and then printmaking because of reactions to the chemicals, so I don't want to take any chances. I got out my late mothers air purifier (it's a good one,she had emphysyma) and plugged it in, but my question is this---Where?
Even with my drawing surface, I presume, and as it both takes in and blows out air, I put it to blow across the surface. Does anybody know if this is correct? Am I just blowing pastel dust all over my living room? Actually I think I'll wait til I hear from someone to turn it on while I'm working.

Roan--did you finish the article you were writing on the dangers connected with pastels?
Thanks so much to everyone! Libby
