MY COMMENTS:
This is a snap of my precious Grandaughter. I know it is not much of a portrait as really none of her face is showing but I loved the pose.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
This was just my 2nd attempt at a portrait and my first attempt to use boards. Not too sure that a I will use boards again they seem so thirsty! What should I do to a board other than gesso? Any help in improving the picture will be much appriciated. Thanks Sonya

Hi , try darkening the figure instead of the background it wil bring your little girl more in front, look at the picture, the hair is darker than the wall.
Just a thought

red is dominant in the photo and nice too it reaches right from the cheek in through the trees as if all life were a single organism and the nourishment flows from the child into the trees

I love your descriptions Jerry, and I agree with you about the red.

This is a nice piece of work Sonya. I would look at the light though, she is facing it directly and the shadow behind is strong therefore the back of the dress needs work and the front below the window sill.

A shadow on the bottom of the arm would help anchor her to the window sill.
