This is from a photo from the reference library done in painter ten digital water colours. I did use the oils to do the whispy bits so that they showed up on the dark background.

Nice one. The eyes very prominent. Live and perhaps as expressive as human eyes.

Bryn, You did a good job with the head of the cougar, but his body has no shape for definement. Looks like his head is on a rug. They are blending together. . Shape the body . I saw the picture in the ref. library. and here is what i mean to fix the painting.

Thanks Barsha & Lucy- foot for your kind comments. This is the first time I have had any sort of success with the digital water colours and it is a case of trial and error with the brushes. Lucy- foot I will have another go at it, taking into account your advice.

That looks better now, I think you just need to bring the white fur down a bit more over the leg and make that piece of the leg look wider.

An improvement Bryn.. The rug should be more darker and not so much like the spots on the cougar.. It will make a better contrast. Make it more ruggy look. Even if you changed the color of rug would improve the shape of the cougar, laying on a rug. Just play aroud a bit with it more and see what comes up best.:)

Thanks everyone for being so helpful, this is the one I have changed. I did try one or two different colours on the rug but none of them seemed quite right so I ended up darkening. Hope you think it looks better.

Yes Bryn, this looks much better, and your choice of a darker brown for the rug is best.
