This one is 11 X14 on panel board using Golden Open paint. I forget where I got the reference photo. Question, are the animals to well defined? Earlier in the painting I liked how they blended in more with the background. Thanks for looking. C&C wecome.

Tim - I think the animals are perfect. The backround vegetation needs to be grayed down a bit and maybe a touch darker in the foreground. This would help to settle them in the middle of the field.

Nice work, I would rather say maybe a transition from the nearest grass (bright) to grass furthest away (alot darker) to give feild more 3d and depth =)

I think it's perfect! Love the warm foreground against the cool back. Lovely forming of the elk.

I would say you nailed it. Nice level of detail.

Only critique is the shadow on the neck of the doe. Something does look quite right.

A very nice rendition, the colors all harmonizing very well. With a little tweaking of the background and foreground, I think you will no longer feel the animals are too prominent. They ARE the focal point so nothing wrong with them catching our eyes, right? A keeper ready for your signature!

I think you did a beautiful job on the foreground. Your deer look great and I like your coloring and your mountains. If I were to change anything it would be the sky. It lacks the professional look that the rest of the painting has.

Colours make the painting unique.

I almost missed this one. I don't think the animals are too well defined, I like the way it makes them stand out from the background. The lighting is great too.

I can see nothing wrong with this at all. The animals are very well done indeed, and they stand out just enough for you to define them, yet they blend in so very well with the background.

Remember, that is what they do - not walking around advertising themselves!

I also like the highlights along their backs from the back light of a setting sun. Very nice indeed.

I love your palette.....and I love the strong look from the deer. Only suggestion, if I may, is that my eyes want just a little more balance between foreground and back...I've taken liberty (hope you don't mind...easier to show sometimes, than tell) to show you what I mean.....hope this is helpful!! sorry, had to attach as uploader isn't working right....
