I think wetcanvas should have a new section dedicated to marine art and wildlife art, along with a drawing space on how to draw animals,
anyone else agree?

I think wet canvas should have a forum dedicated to the figure and figurative work.

hmmm....I think i shall have to agree...i would like to see some drawing issues addressed. i paint with oils & my pre-sketches are terrible. the people who view my work may be surprised to know that i don't draw so well!! I've purchased a few books & they have helped but there's nothing like hands on interaction....Cheryl

I have been thinking too about a new forum - there are many issues (figurative, composition, color theory etc.) that relate to all mediums. Some of these discussions are now conducted as part of critique (or in one of the medium-dedicated forums). If we narrow the topics too much we will end up with a very long list at the "front door" but with little activity in each. So I guess I suggest that some of the existing forums should be merged into a slightly wider scope than today. Critique, Debate, and Cafe and the media related forums are ok as they are I think. Forums: color-theory, portraiture, and landscape could be combined into this new "composition, color etc" forum. I also think that some of the less frequented mediums like sculpture, tole, scratchboard, porcelin, could be combined into an "other media" forum. "Oriental art" should be put someplace else.

I am not at all against dividing things up, but the software does not do a very good job for users such as me having interest in most of the forums - there is simply too much browsing to keep up with everything.

Not a bad idea considering that I've painted by picking up the brush from the get go. I couldn't draw if I dreamed it. But animals would be good material. A circle here, circle there and then add the ears, eh?

Well, Wetcanvas has done very well so far...and it looks like there is a lot of growth..many new members...quite a few posts each day.
I'm not sure what would be best...the critique area is home to a lot of variety.
I would cast my vote for SOME separate headings...but I realize any re-organization will cause work for the "behind-the-scenes" web-page people.
I agree with henrik..that there IS a great deal of browsing involved in just keeping up. I too, am interested in most of the topics.
We do have separate forums for "Drawing", "Oil Painting"..and others..but these are discussion forums (?) only..and we cannot up-load and post examples in these. (If I am correct). Not sure what will work best as WC continues to grow..I allow myself time to visit the critique area nearly every day...because I am so interested in seeing everyone's work.
I suppose it is up to "upper management"...to determine the best directions in the future. Scott, Carly, Electra..Gisela..Rod..anyone involved in the future of Wetcanvas...please let me know if there is anything I can do. (I am, unfortunately, not knowledgeable in many of the computer basics). MichaelRH (artist@oneimage.com)

michael, uploads work in all of the forums - not just critique.

Yes, uploads work in all forums - you can still upload them through the critique center page - they are referenced the same way.

The Critique Discussion Forum is sort of a catch-all category, but you can absolutely ask for a critique in another forum (oils, watercolors, drawing, etc.).

Cheers.

(I'm sneaking back in here with a "thank you"!!!!). Henrik and Scott!! I guess if one does not TRY!!!! something..first!

Honestly, thank you both...I am learning something new here each time I visit! Makes sense..I usually high-light the line indicated, once I've up-loaded my image-(copy it)..and I see now that that line can be (pasted) into any forum in the same way I would paste it in the "Critique" area.
I buy the next round in Gisela's Bar!!
