Autumn -rock road- Demo

Hello-- I started this tonight- I decided to photograph the progress:

First I started with a 24x30 inch sheet of gator board. I painted it a rose color with acrylic paint then added a layerof pastel ground mixture.

Next I draw out a rough design of the landscape.

Here i have added water to turn the drawing to a loose water color painting

Next I begin working on the foreground boulders and the fore trees. I am using Terry Ludwig darks and some nu pastel

just trying to hold the whole piece together.

Now i have identified the rock road and fore ground --tomorrow I will attempt to finish. i want to leave the background hazy and foggy so I will have to sleep on it

I'm also waiting to see the progress, it is always so interesting to watch a demo, I learn a lot from it. Did I remember seeing a photo similar to what you are painting in the Ref. Library Tom? I've looked at that photo a few times and loved the brightly sunny background. But maybe it is not the same one.

Thanks for sharing this process, I will be watching for more. What do you mean by pastel medium, is it a brand or is it a mixture? I am fairly new and am experimenting with different grounds, I want to know more about this.
