Mary Swiss is my Ohio Star with this assortment, thanx for hosting, Mary....
This 'couple' just had to be done together, so i did the bldgs in pencils & waxy KohINoor Woodless pencils, then b/g, f/g, sidegrounds and everything else in softies... changed the quilt square to Ohio Star, dipped over the creaky bridge, and on to #3... 5X7 ea, about 2 1/2 hrs total.... (i missed Tressa's completely because of babysitting, so may post one Mon in new thread) hope to see you before that!! if you want to pop into the PC Xchg, take a peek at the jewelry i'm sending out... i'm about half way down the page... http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492309&page=40

Great barn and covered bridge. They certainly do go well together and you did them justice.

These are both lovely! And you're right--they make a nice pair.

Way to go on the challenge, Kor. Both are great. I am glad you are getting back to painting this week. We missed you. Your earrings you did are really great. Looks like you could just pick them up and put them on.

These are both wonderful. I love the Barn one! The sky in this one is gorgeous too!

Great job on both, I love the barn and the sky on the first one.
Both nice, Kor. I hope I can do my bridge the justice that you have this week. I like how you mixed the soft media with the crisp one. Works well.

a great pair of paintings, love the combo of CPs and pastels, love the woodgrain on both (and your 'jewelry is awesome, sad that I did not make it to that exchange!)

Great stuff, Kor! You have a nice knack of detailing on that barn!
09-21-2008, 06:39 PM
well, gee, thanx for all the nice comments on the other two, cause this one is THE PITS!!! this turned out to be one of the hardest ones i've tried (Mary!!).. i thumbnailed the base coat i did last night, then just sat staring at it... i'm thinking now that it was just too dark... finally got to it in the daylight today; the oranges look like they're all dried up overnight!... the 'crochet' may just GO; too 'fluffy'.. ... after all those changes, maybe i'll decide to try the 'aura'... i like that challenge........... sigh.......... btw: was trying out my Terry Ludwig darks... might be too dark for what i wanted.......... (she says NOW!)

o BLEH!!!!! now that it's posted.... ewwwwwwwwww..... MUCH more work! (and still no edit button.......)
09-21-2008, 07:31 PM
wellll..... "What do i have to lose???? nuthing!!!!!".... about 15 minutes more, re-did EVERYTHING...added the 'aura'.... .... it's soooo done.... but i like it better.... ... on to the next...
09-23-2008, 05:14 PM
i'm popping this back up to first page, cause nobody got to C&C on my last effort... needed help... i think i'm going to take off the 'aura'... DD says it looks like smoke......... i think she's right, but, hey, got to try it........... what say you????
09-23-2008, 11:42 PM
Kor, great update on this one. Yes it's a bit too dark, but, you got it back on more even keel now. I think, before you remove the aura, pump up the light and highlights in the Kettle first if you can. I know nothing about pastels so not sure what you can do. Then see if you think the aura works. I think it's all that's needed. :D ;)
BTW......love your covered bridges. Great work Nonny!!!
  Shar

Well doggone it, I like the dark of the painting ! (But then, I'd love to roll around nakid in the lovely Terry Ludwigs darks cause they are sooo luscious- oops too much information, sorry !)
I can see the aura is 'steamy' looking, so what if you just took it down a value notch and diffused the edges? But I still vote for the richness of the darks.
The barn and bridge make a lovely pair  , makes me want to go back to Ontario where they have these things also.
