I need to put my paints away and do some more jewelery - roll on Monday I'll make a fresh start then and hopefully have something to show then (I've only got the previous things I made).

Hung out at the glass foundry for a bit yesterday, wow, those guys just crank out the glass floats like machines. http://www.lcglasscenter.com/ They are working in the same colors over and over right now creating floats for the city's big 2009 float giveaway which starts in October with a big kick-off ball. Cool event. Spendy, but it includes dinner, dancing to live band, and your very own glass float (which usually cost between $30 and $40), all for “just” $75 per. Unfortunately that is something I will not be attending. I went one year as a guest. It was fun, they always have a silent auction of cool glass stuff, too.

Maggie, I hope you have a blast in LA!!!

Donna, Painting is a good thing. Beading is too. Love them both, fortunately I don't have to choose between them. :D

Anita, You can do painting and jewelry both. Don't have to choose!!! I am sure we would all love to see some of your current work, painting or jewelry. You can always give us a link to your painting.

Andee, TGIF!!!! Hope you are feeling better!!!

BBL Have to work today!! 11 to 6. Yea!! Tess is headed back to work today, too. Double yea!!

As I'm new here on this site I wasn't sure if I could link back to my flickr and web - I've added them to my signature.

I don't have a large work space (smallest bedroom) so if I want to do something else I have to clear what I am currently working on - can get a bit tedious especially when I want to do some sewing.

Okay Rita, HERE (http://atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/index.php?u=359) is the link to my Gallery at ATCsforAll (http://atcsforall.com)...where I've got a 5 x 5 WIP in Open Acrylics goin on...

hi everyone :)

Happy Birthday Cheryl!!!

Rita, how fun! We sometimes hit the glass shop in seattle just to watch the glassblowing too - it's mesmerizing. Glad both you and Tess are back to work today - yay! When do you start your new job? Or did you already and I missed it?

Andee, hope you are doing better today! TGIF for sure.

Maggie, have a great weekend!

Claire, you too!

Anita, it's nice to do both! I have been thinking of ways to combine painting and jewelry... but so far I really just like to paint BIG things. so... anyway, hope you have something to show soon :)

Donna, so glad you are inspired! That's what it's all about - have fun painting and beading - when it comes! BTW, I looked at your blog the other day and OMG I love that beading around the stone - so cool!

I think I'm going to try to get Luke to do some painting with me today. He has the day off and is watching speed racer again and I need to get him off the tv. And painting sounds good. So does beading actually, I bought some cool shell beads the other day and I can't wait to use them. I also need to finish the gift basket website so I can stop thinking about that and do the things I love. And October is coming and it's over half the birthdays in the family, including Luke's so I have a ton of work to do on that front. And Luke wants a party at our house with his school friends, which means I've got work to do on the house front too - I want the sheetrock plastered and painted in the dining room! And I have to decide if I want to put up the halloween stuff for his party (because it's so cool) or do birthday stuff... do you get the feel for how fast my brain is spinning? LOL.

xoxo and  and all that stuff - I'm sure I'll be checking in again today...

Anita, I can relate to the space issues. I am limited too. I usually do painting at an art studio I belong to (have for 10 years). I have space there for my materials, as well.

Donna, Awesome dryad!!! Of course I am so drawn to the cats it is hard to look at anything else!! :D What a dork I am.

Pam, Just a bonus day since my co-worker is taking off for the valley, and my boss is really slammed with printing projects. I think the transition will occur in Oct. Not sure at this point. She has someone else making an offer on the print shop, so who knows??!! Yes, isn't glass blowing amazing!!! Have fun with Luke. I have tried to get Athena back to painting, but she seems to be more focused on writing. Just wish she would learn to spell!!!

:heart::clap::clap: HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL!!!! :clap::clap::heart:

BBL

Happy birthday Cheryl, hope you didn't have to go to work today.

I'm in the middle of being superbusy, I'm insufferable when I get into packing mode. Mine is nearly all organised now, and David hasn't even started his - as usual.

Maggie, have a great weekend and a safe journey.

Donna and Anita, sounds like you both have creative weekends ahead, hope the muse keeps you busy.

Andee, enjoy your two work-free days, hope they are happy ones.

Rita, good to hear everyone is better, hope work is good.

Pam, you're going into overdrive again! Insteads of plastering before Luke's party could you have a temporary mural, something just for the event? Could be fun, and you don't have to live with it.

Gwen, four kittens is more than enough, do you have homes for them? They are the sweetest things.

Dawn, hope you are all feeling better, kids are terrible harbingers of germs.

Angela, hope your sister is enjoying plentiful hot water and R&R. So nice to be able to help at last.

Barrie, trust you have been having a productive day, ouch that postage was way too expensive.

Sylvia, I can just see you in your tux threatening the undesirables!

Waves to anyone I've missed, speak to you all when I get back (Wednesday).

Hello!! It's a gray Friday here! The sky that is, not me! I slept in (took advantage of not having to drive anyone anywhere! LOL).

Claire, have a fantastic trip!! Looking forward to the pics afterwards! :)

Rita, YAY a bonus day is a good thing! The glassblowing place sounds fantastic!! We have a couple here but they tend to be a little snooty to lampworkers. I LOVE floats - the 'ball' sounds interesting, but I'm with you, wouldn't go! LOL And it's not the money ($75 is actually CHEAP for that kind of thing), I just hate those kinds of things - never know what to wear, never know anyone, just don't fit in! I'd make a good hermit! LOL

Pam, when doesn't your brain go a million miles an hour!?! LOL A painting day with Luke sounds way better than more tv! :)

Donna and Anita, love your ATC's!! Great stuff!

Cheryl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Eat lots of cake and have lots of fun! :)

Angela, hope you're sister is settling in well.

Maggie, have a fun, fun, fun trip!!

Andee, hope your cold is gone for your weekend!

 to all that pop in today! I'm kind of scattered today - need to dig out my list and cross a few more things off. Then a quick trip to the local bead store (it's the coolest store ever!), owned by a really honest to goodness hippy chick! The floor is all plywood, painted black, there's all kinds of beaded curtains hanging here and there, incense burners for sale in one corner, row upon row upon row of beads. Walls of beads, cabinets full of beads. It's really amazing!! Tehy'er one of my vendors at the show, and I have to pop out to drop off posters and flyers and pick up their application. I never get out there, as I don't use beads in my work very often, but I really enjoy the visit when I go. She has a couple of dining tables set up with comfy chairs around where people can sit and bead, or talk, or have a cup of coffe, or whatever. Wish you guys could join me! :) Better get going before I run out of time! Have a great day everyone!!

Hi everyone. Had a good day on the torch or at least I think I did! (LOL) If nothing cracks in the kiln it will mostly be good. We burned the wood pile where Chica had Sunni. No snakes came out which was a good thing. Now that pile of brush is gone and I feel much better about it. I'm back to saying there are only three little boy kittens. The little yellow one is the runt of the litter and I just think his little eyes matted up so I thought he was a different kitty. I played with them a couple of times today, his eyes were open this morning but closed this evening, so feel confident that three is it.

Claire, hope you have a marvelous holiday. We will probably keep all three, especially since they are male so no expense for surgery. We are both so soft hearted we have a hard time parting with babies. That's why I must get the kittie production stopped by getting Sunni and Chica fixed, fixed and fixed!

Donna, love your ATC. Like Rita I am so partial to the cats. I can't draw a thing and just hate that. I have always felt like I could but it just doesn't go from brain to hand to pen. I am going to try some petroglyph type stuff on some beads. I think I can do that and my stringer control is getting a bit better.

Anita, cool stuff. I didn't know there was free web space available! May have to try that. People keep asking or my website and get confused when I give them Etsy.

Rita, how neat the shop is. I always loved watching the guys in Mexico that did the vases. And, I could watch those folks that set up in the mall until my feet fell off. Fascinated me beyond reason. The "Ball" sounds like a lot of fun and $75 is really reasonable but I can understand about it not being in the budget. Wouldn't be in mine either. I am so excited about your painting of Sunni. Are you doing her in watercolor like you did my Rocky? Hooray for bonus work days!

Barrie, your postage surprise sounds like my car surprise! I just hate it when things like that happen. Your bead shop sounds like so much fun. There was one sort of like that in San Antonio in a really eclectic part of town called Alamo Heights. Hope you had a good day.

Sylvia, I can see you as a bouncer! Just get out a pointy stick and go for it. So glad you are back with us.

Maggie, I hope your trip to LA is all you want it to be. Have fun.

Pam, hope you got Luke to paint with you. I bet he is good at it. You are so funny with trying to do everything before you have folks over! I can remember being like that. Your halloween decos are so pretty maybe Luke would do a halloween dress up party for his birthday. We start in July and have a birthday, or two, every month until the end of the year!

Angela, hope your sister is getting rested up and ya'll have a great time at the fair this weekend. Sell lots of goodies!

Andee, rest up this weekend and get to feeling better. Hope you have some creative time pop up.

Dawn, how are things in your household? Hope you are feeling better.

Hope I caught everyone. I'm going to go work on a crochet scarf for one of the granddaughters. Handmade scarves for all the girls for Christmas! It's a new tradition since I'm retired and have no money!! (LOL) Have a great evening!

Claire, You may be gone by the time I post this. I hope you have a fun holiday!! Relax, enjoy, and take tons of pictures!!!

Barrie, When I went to the “ball” I decided I didn't care what other people were wearing and wore a “nice” pair of pants and top. I took my cousin with me, and he wore basic dress casual, alligator shirt and slacks. We were with my boss and his daughter who were dressed like us, so we fit in fine in our own crowd. There were folks there with amazing formal attire, but we are at the beach so there is also a lot of casual. It really was fun, but a bit too crowded for my taste. I would rather have had dinner in a quiet little greasy spoon restaurant. But then, my son has always told me I am a cheap date. :D Hope your list got some more things checked off. Priced a tattoo at the shop across from us yesterday. Don't know how much your DH charges, but this guy seemed a bit higher than the last guy I used. Did you get signed up for the drawing class yet?? I would have loved to go to the bead store with you. It sounds like my kind of place.

Gwen, The painting of Sunni IS in watercolor like Rocky, but I started with watercolor crayons, so it is a bit different. I used the one where she has her butt in the air and her tail is curled back up toward her head. Really cute pose, and I think this one looks more like Sunni than the painting of Rocky looked like him. I mostly just have a background to put in now, and a few shadows. I love her vibrant color!!! The kittens are adorable. No wonder you want to keep them all!!! Lucky girls getting new scarves made by their loving grandma!!! Nice you can do it, too. Oooh, I just noticed you passed the 1,000 post mark and you are a Minion (Onion) now!!!

Well, the closer the end of the month gets the more I am concerned about the transition of the shops. It sounds like the printing business is sold, too. Don't have a clue when that change will take place, but the antique part is happening the first week of October if what I have been hearing is true. I am not sure when my hours will increase or what days yet. Jeez, nothing like being left out of the loop. I would imagine I will hear something this weekend, but who knows!! It was busy in a strange way, today. I had several printing projects to work on, and the mall had a fairly steady flow of customers, not spending much, but busy anyway. There are two big events in town this weekend. Surf City, a big casino event with the Beach Boys, a classic car show, and such, and then also the first ever “Iris Pride Festival” a gay pride event. So the clientelle for the different events is totally different. Ought to be an interesting weekend. I am hoping we will get a lot of gay couples in the shop, since the ones we usually get are a little freer with their money than a lot of other folks. I suppose it is because so many are two income families.

Have a great weekend all!!!
