Yeah, a smoother texture in the background. This will help to push the shell forward. At the moment, the texture is all the same throughout.
Good use of colour.

Yes, I think smoother texture on the top half of the background. Give depth and make the shell pop out.

Tim, conch shells are so much harder to paint than they look. (That's the voice of experience talking!!!) I love your saturated color in this; it looks like a pastel! Personally, I like this rough background texture.
