9X16 Canvas - Still in the works.. Trying to figure out the light coming in the doorway.. I'm sure some of you know the effect I'm trying for, suggestions please.

The reference came from a b&w snapshot.

Cute painting and I really like the effect you have on the door. Not sure how to help you with the lighting question except maybe you could post your ref. photo to give us a better idea.

 This is really wonderful, Bill!

I think what you might want to do with the sream of light from the opened door is up the contrast and sharpen the lines between light and dark. Take a look at some of Coralie's work to see some good examples of what I mean:
Coarlie's Uncle Aurthur Painting. (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=503891&page=2)
Coralie's Good Morning Sunshine painting. (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500416)
The first one is more like your scene, but the shadows and contrasts in both, I believe, is the effect you're shooting for.

I look forward to seeing the finished work! :D
