View Full Version : A small village in North Germany...

The center of my pieces of art is the austere beauty of the North German land- and seascape... I wanna show the atmospherical, mostly melancholical, coastal scenery, which shows the huge power of the sea...

I was born in 1949 in Germany and I am a full time painter since 1985...

Feel free for comments and critiques...

Here is one of my last paintings... Oil an canvas...

Best regards, Dietmar

Welcome Dietmar
I've spent a lot of time in the lush fields of southern Germany, and have seen the more austere north only briefly, but this painting recalls the feelings I had there.
Well done.

Welcome to the forums. It's always nice to see new work here, especially from someone so accomplished.
I like the composition in this painting and the realistic tree in the foreground. The clouds are beautifully done as well.

This is gorgeous. I am from Southern Germany, but have been in the North, and it really captures the atmosphere.
Wunderbar, ganz toll!

Hi Dietmar,
This looks very similar to the little village of Katterbach in Bavaria seen from the distance. Spent some time there and these houses in your painting are very much the same style. Very nice work Deitmar.

Dietmar,
This is wonderful. The contrast created by the very darks in the tree really set it off.

Beautiful representation, superb technique. Dietmar - I tried to access your website, but there seems to be a problem with it - the program keeps closing down. Anything you can do to rectify this, as I'd l;ove to see more of your work?

Georgous colors and beautiful brush work. The tree, the buildings, the sky . . . each is marvelously done, but I can't seem to find the combining focus of the composition. The work is truely beautiful so I feel I must be missing something. Help me out here.

Sehr Gut Deitmar! Das ist sehr gut...:)

I found it breath taking, but I don't know how to say that in German.

Wish I could come and paint with you and learn a lot, but I've only been to Germany twice, this past May on the way to and from Ethiopia, we stopped at Frankfurt.

Thank you so much, everybody :) Itīs very touching...

Sorry for the late comment, there was a lot of work to do and I was in holidays, traveled from here to there, all over the country and visited some friends

Again, thank you

@Tim, I checked my signature, now it should work.

Hi Dietmar,
No, I realise that your original signature wasn't an active link, so I tried to access your website via a search engine. I can get as far as the Homepage but then the program stops responding - every time. It's very frustrating as I'd love to see more of your stuff. Ah well - I suppose I'll just have to wait for more posts on Wetcanvas.
(Is anyone else having difficulty accessing Dietmar's website - or is it just me?)

Hi Tim,

I have no idea, my website works with frames and I use firefox.

Maybe this here helps:

Perfect - many thanks Dietmar.
You portray the solitude and vast skies of your homeland very evocatively. The lonely single tree portraits are full of character with an underlying melancholic storyline - very beautiful.
Well done - excellent work.
