http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/13-Aug-2008/39224-75._Face_to_face.JPG It is ages since I last posted one of my paintings. Please forgive me . This little fellow was face to face with me on my last trip to South Africa. He was so curious and I was able to do a number of sketches. At last finished the painting. ´30 x 24 cms gallery wrapped canvas. Painted with Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics. Hope you like it. All comments welcome.

Nice! Great details. I love monkeys--have a collection of them, they reminded me of my high school students when I was teaching! LOL.
I like how the background color really pops those curious eyes!

JENNY: Thanks so much. I wanted the background to reflect African colours and the eye colour. Glad it worked.
KATHY: I actually took less time than I thought I would. Once I had the eyes, everything moved quickly from there.
VANCHE: Cute, I agree, but pretty cunning! I used a rigger and a fine palette knife for the hair.
SONI: Thanks a lot. I love the intelligence in a monkey's eyes and tried to bring that across.
GAYLE: Glad you liked it. I really enjoy painting hair.
PAT: Thanks for the positive feedback. Really appreciate it.
KAT: You can say that again!! I used many glazes to get the right colour and shine in the eyes.
BISKIT: The detail works goes quickly once you get the hang of it. Ground colour is very important. Thank you.
MARGARET: Thanks so much for commenting.
S.SULLIVAN: Thanks for taking the time to comment. Luv it when a new member joins in .
LINDA: :) Thanks
SERGIO: Guess I have my own technique - quite different from others I have seen. Glad it worked.
RUTHIE: There is a story alright!! He(actually) ransacked my bungalow when I had gone on a game drive. Only left the window open a fraction!!!
KATHIE: Thank you very much. I am delighted with the positive response to this work as I really enjoyed painting it.
TRACEY: What a compliment. Thank you.

 Hi Chammi!
Great painting! The details and eyes and expression on the monkey are awesome and so is the background! I too was astounded by all the brushwork that must have went into that fur texture. You found the perfect balance between realism and painterly. Excellent work! :D
