 HI DORTE:wave:

It's so great to see you back! I've missed you! We are all in for a real treat. I just watched your video and boy do you work fast, what kind of coffee are you drinking?:D Great music, who is it?

So for starters (I'm one for the questions) what surface are you working on? This looks huge, is it the largest you've done? How big is this. I notice you are using mostly pencils, just curious on what the white pastel is.

I hope all has been well with you, I remember you were just starting a new job, hope that it has worked out for you. Enough chit chat...now go back to work:lol:

:music: Carol

omg !! ... how huge is this painting in its entirety ?? ... !!! ... it's going to be awesome once done judging by your wip and demo in the video !! ... can't wait to see more !! ... :)

Paula: thank you :D

Pastel_Love: he he I hope you don't get a crank in you neck from waiting on me  I really hope to update today or tomorrow. Thanks for your comment.

Merethe: hey ya there. I'm glad to be back. Boy have I been buisy lately! I had the most exciting assignment a month ago. I got to illustrate a book cover! the book came out in stores on wensday, so this has been very exciting for me.

CindyW: Thank you! I'm glad you like the video part.

bchlvr: Thanks! :D It's nice to know that you are watching them.

Carol: lol! okay okay he he i forgot to post all the details, but here they are;
The music is Enigma with "return to innocence"
The paper is (drum rolls....) velour paper, and it measures 50 x 70 cm. That's a full sheet. I have never done a pastel bigger than this, but I have made more than one this size.
The white pastel is Derwent pastel block and the black one is the same. I really like them (maybe because I got them at half price).
Yep new job, and I bought a house 3-4 months ago, so life has been buisy.
I've also had many commision jobs some that I can't show here. But the next month I've go no commisions, i'm taking a break from doing those and making something for myself. :) Thank you for commenting! :D

Violet: thanks! :D Yes it is a bit big, and I hope it will pack quite a punch when done this size. Thanks for you comment.

This is absolutely fantastic work! The cub is wonderful! And your demonstration is extremely useful!! Don't you mind if I put the link to your video on the Russian site Demiart.ru? I'll put the link to this page as well, but only with your permission.

Pam; Thank you :D I'm very glad you like it

jimmy4u; Some find the velour very hard to work on, but I must admit, I find it easy and very lovely. There's nothing like it. I also like the sanded paper, but velour is my favorite. You should really try it out. :)

Rose; Thank you so much! :D

Galina; Sure you can! I would be honored that you like my work enough to want to link to it, so go ahed. Thanks for you comment :D

I do hope your not getting tired of this one, but here is another video:

and the update:

09-15-2008, 03:08 PM
wow amazing as always you are one of my favorite painters
wich paper do you use and what kind of pastel pencils?

09-16-2008, 12:01 AM
Thank you Nadia, for those kind words :)

I use velour paper, the light grey one. And the pastel pencils are Derwent, and faber-castell pitt. And the block of white I use for the first layer of fur is a Derwent stick/block, a hard pastel.

10-11-2008, 02:49 PM
So this is finally finished!
I know that I've not been online much lately, but life is busy! I got ill for some time, had a virus on the nerve in my ear, which resulted in headaches, dizziness, feeling sick, and more unpleasant things. It's on it's way out off my system and I'm getting better slowly.

Now here's the last video:

And here's the finished painting:

Thank you for any C and C's! And thank you for your patients!

10-11-2008, 09:54 PM

10-12-2008, 12:14 AM
wow how beautiful i watched some of it on u tube wow that is all i can
say is wow

10-12-2008, 03:54 AM
Thank you for creating this video! I've watched all the episodes and love how you handle the Derwents on the velour paper. I've used velour paper before but rarely tried to cover that much area with pastel pencils. Glorious detail working that large. This painting is perfect. I can't add any critique, but you took one of my favorite subjects -- cats -- and did them in one of their most difficult expressions, so real I could reach through the screen and touch them. Probably get bit for it, but they are gorgeous!

I also rated all the episodes as I watched them. I was surprised at how few ratings you got, I guess people forget to click the stars. Can I link to this on my blog and share it?

10-12-2008, 04:58 AM
fiannah, Jip Jop, imaginationcounts thank you so much! I can't tell you how glad I am to hear that you like it.

robertsloan2; Thank you! I didn't know that your on youtube :) Thank you for all the stars!! And thank you for the comment, I'm so happy you like it.
Yes! you definitely may put them on your blog. I would be honored!

10-13-2008, 12:05 AM
