Another piece done just recently...I'm working on a series called "Old Cars & Critters", working from photos I've taken of afriends collection of cars and wildlife I've photgraphed over the years....This one is 25"x28" on Colourfix paper. Mostly Unison & Schmincke with some Carbothello pencils. Your thoughts?
Thank you,
Mike

Hi Mike,

You are very VERY good!!! I spent some time looking at your website.

What makes you decide to do a picture in oil or pastel? Which do you prefer?

Just curious.

Thank you all!
Your comments mean a lot to me. You are all such talented artists...

Carol,
My choice of medium is usually determined by time allowed to work on a piece. I love pastels because they are fast and easy! Commissioned pieces are usually determined by the client as to which medium is used. That said, I find I prefer pastels because they allow me to move quickly through a piece and that means I can do more!

Ingrid,
I'm not exactly sure cause I work several pieces at a time, but I'm guessing around 30-40hrs from layout to completion?

Thanks again!
Mike

OMG - this is so beautiful!!
Like all the others said - everything is perfect.

What I like so very very much is the way the foxes look - cheeky, friendly and very very nosy.
Really really great work.

PS: You have a great hand for nature scenes and capturing the atmosphere. I just looked at "Close Call" and this is outstanding too. Besides all the other... :smug:

Wow! And the little guy on the... um... on the-part-of-the-car-over-the-front-wheel (?) 'hunting' the dragonfly/apropriate insect is adorable! Your humour and style reminds me of Norman Rockwell, but still as *your* paintings. The humour, and the choice of relatively ordinary objects telling a story -- that is the similarities I see, and admire.
