Just finished this one today. The black background was the request of the person who commissioned this piece. I was a bit challenged by the composition because I was working from two different photos. I didn't want to lose the original pose with her hand laying on the dogs head so I pushed him back a tad.

C&C welcome as usual.
Thanks for looking.

This is great!!!! I gotta give huge KUDOS to anyone that even attempts to paint real life people, it is soooooo easy to make someone hate you after you paint them that I really just will not do it. I think I would rather go hungry than have to paint a person. The ONLY way I would do this would be in POP ART form where you cant really really tell features so welll........
Again, KUDOS to you for a great job on this!!! I salute you!!!

Really very lovely! I only wish the painting had faded out at the bottom instead of this more sudden end. The bottom bothers me in an otherwise beautiful portrait.

Very well done, Debbie!!!

Thank you all for the kind remarks. I haven't painted a dog in about 15 years so I was a little nervous on the outcome of this one. Your comments are much appreciated.

Great job! You really have a knack for fur and hair. I think you should do more animals.

I agree Debbie, great job on the dog's fur and the girl's hair! Well done!

Wow Debbie, very well done!!

I love the tongue on the dog! I think the dog would be even harder than the person, but a little person is harder than a grown up person--whew, I get a headache even contemplating this!

lol Jenny. The dog is a mixed breed and I'm told that has something to do with his odd tongue color. When it comes to difficulty, it doesn't matter much if its a dog or a child or a watermelon....the process in getting to the finished result is very much the same. Sometimes I need to remind myself of that. lol.
Thanks again for looking.

 It's a beautiful painting, Debbie! The dog and the young gal are so well painted, but then, you are a phenomenal artist no matter what you paint! I can see this in a oval frame.:wink2: Really great work! :D
