The crop is better for the simple reason that the girth strap seems to take the eye off the spur. Well done.

You've done an exemplary job on the stirrup. I can feel the age and feel the oil and grit. I just can't believe you let her wear a newer pair of jeans! You did an amazing job on the denim but I keep wanting to see more fray on the hem....

Your series is very cool! I like this piece a lot, especially the wonderfully realistic textures.
There is one minor thing that distracts me a little - the width of the horse's closest leg above the knee seems too narrow, when compared with the other leg.
Wow Kathie, I'm gobsmacked!!! this is so good!!!

My thoughts exactly! On the overall painting my mind put fray on the jeans--especially in the split--then I saw in the detail, and there wasn't really any there...I had to do a double take above!
That leather on the stirrup is just hyper realistic! It looks like if you touch it you'll find you really pasted real piece of leather there!

I didn't realize it until read someone else's feedback, but I was humming the :music: "I got spurs":music: song while I was browsing this thread, lol! It was an old cowboy song by Gene Autry or Roy Rogers I believe  ...anyway...on to the artwork!
 The first thing that caught my eye was the realistic look of the jeans - WoW! Then I spied the leather, another WoW! The whole piece is outstanding, Kathie! Well done! :D
