Hi all:

This one is on my wooden box where I store my acrylic paints. I found that the paint once dry looked dull. I started aplying soft pastels on top and liked the effect. It's no where near complete and I'm struggling because I've never been able to convey metal and I'm really bad at perspective and ellipses:mad: but what the heck each time I'm pushing myself more.

I'm sorry the scan is chopped I've lost my sim card for my camera and the box is too big for my scanner, the nasty edges are only masking tape I put there to guide me. I'll see how I go, being pastels might be difficult to keep. I'll apply fixative and I'll see how I go from there.

Thanks for looking as always. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/13-Jul-2008/42645-WDE_11_july_08_2hour_progress.jpg

To me, it seems that the character of the wood may have its own hopes and dreams, and makes your work on the surface unique and special. You've been imaginative in pulling the art from the tools and materials, and sometimes must yield to them as well.

Oh, and I'm certainly seeing a metallic sheen on the cannisters! :)

Very well done. Your elipses are fine and the copper glimmers. Looks done to me. Lovely.

I likes this picture when I saw it but thought the brass may be hard to do, but you got it. I really like what you have done. Mary

 Hi Sandy!

Personally, I think you've achieved well the look and shine of copper! What a great idea to use your paint box to paint on! I kind of like the little bit of different texture the wood has given your painting. It is unique!!!! I think you've done a great job with this reference; I was so hoping someone would choose it - Thank you! :D

Thank you all very much for your lovely thoughts, Yes I have to admit, I shocked myself when I choose this image, I've never done a still life. The copper is proving to be a great teacher for me. I've worked on it some more but I still can't find my sd card :( I bought another one in the hope but aparently its the wrong one hehehe so I guess when I get home tonight I'll have to scan a chopped version again.

Imelda, the colours I used where white, a warm yellow, a cool yellow, a cool red, a warm red and ultramarine. the darks I got with alzerium red and Ultramarine blue. I'm stuck on what colour for the top background? Oh well, up and onwards always.
