We just removed our paintings from the art show at our SD County Fair. The work by our local artists is phenomenal. There are so many entries that to get your work accepted into the show is quite an honor. I had two pastels accepted. My painting of the orange slices received the Pastel Society Special Award and a People’s Choice Award. And…..four people want to buy that painting. Imagine that!

There was an additional “small image show” and our Pastel Society members took home ribbons for 1st, 3rd and I got 5th! I reworked the composition of a previous piece into the 5 X 7 format….lemons in a silver bowl.

It's no wonder you received those awards, Karen! Beautiful, beautiful work! Congratulations!!!!

P.S. My nephew just had his first summer job at that fair, working in a booth for Dip'n Dots (not sure of spelling or what the product is, :) ) Wish I could have been there to see the artwork, sounds like a great fair.

Congrats! Well deserved! So now what, do you have to paint three more of the first one so all customers can get one? :D

Congratulations and what beautiful pieces, both of these! Have you done a series of fruit paintings yet? You'd have a sold out show! :)

Thank you for looking!
Charlie, I don't know what to do....hmmmmm, repainting isn't quite as easy as it sounds. But maybe I should just paint oranges and nothing else!!!

The competition you have in SD has got to be huge! What an honor!

Your orange slices look so realistic, and the plate and bg just pops them!

Well deserved award.

I love your lemons equally well, and wouldn't buy one unless I could buy both!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
